From 12 to 15 November 2024, six technical staff from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) underwent training on meteorological instrument calibration at WMO/RIC Tsukuba and Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) headquarters. The initiative represented part of the "Improving of Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Dissemination" project conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Trainees learned about instrument traceability and Automatic Weather Station (AWS) maintenance, viewed the RIC Tsukuba calibration facility, experienced calibration of thermometers, barometers and rain gauges, and engaged in discussions on related matters. These efforts are expected to help improve the quality of PMD weather services.
